A Worker's Lunch Box
Film installation by Nina Rappaport
On October 20 and 21 from 6 to 8 PM A Worker's Lunch Box will be shown both in the storefront and in a new interior and surprising installation at the Gene Frankel Theatre on Bond Street.
Nina Rappaport has been filming factory workers in Philadelphia and New York City's Garment District focusing on the meaning of urban production, pride in work, and also lunch. The lunch box frames the project, the worker’s culture-related projects, and habits.
A Worker's Lunch Box builds upon Nina's scholarship, consulting, and on-going traveling exhibition Vertical Urban Factory, which emphasizes the architecture and urbanism of the industrial spaces and the importance of returning manufacturing to cities in a new sustainable paradigm. As we consider how people work with their hands, we recognize their enterprise, ability, dedication, empathy, and commitment.
See: www.verticalurbanfactory.org for more information about Nina’s work.
